Tonight I was talking with a fellow Realtor/friend who shared with me some really interesting and startling statistics with me...
- Did you know that out of the thousands of Realtors holding licenses in Monmouth, Middlesex and Ocean counties in New Jersey, the great majority of them have not closed more than one transaction in the year 2008?
- Did you know that thousands of Realtors in New Jersey and states across the country are either going on a strictly "referral" basis or turning in their licenses altogether?
- Did you know that many real estate agents across the country have spent more $$ on paying the costs to do business but haven't earned any money (not even from rentals) to at least recoup the money they put out?
Unfortunately, it's a sad but true reality. I'm sure everyone has their reasons for why things just haven't panned out the way they would've liked them to. It's rough out there for all of us, and sometimes things just go in a different direction than we initially thought they would.
With the economy the way it is, finding an alternate means of earning a living may be a serious challenge for many folks, especially those who haven't been employed in any other profession.
However, I refuse to believe that all is lost in the world of real estate.
I know one thing for sure...there are still plenty of people throughout New Jersey and across this vast country of ours that need to sell & buy homes. So that means there is still plenty of opportunity out there for the taking. Opportunity is knocking for Realtors, mortgage consultants, lawyers, paralegals, appraisers home inspectors, title companies and every professional who contributes to the sale of a home. Knock-knock...Anybody home?
The key is tapping into the enormous potential for NEW BUSINESS that exists if we look beyond the surface...
The question is, are we ready to go out and earn the business that's still ours for the taking?
Some call me the "ultimate optimist," and others just call me plain ole' crazy...I like to think of myself as very motivated! I figure, I won't know if I am a success or a failure at something until I at least give it my best shot!
My philosophy is simple...If you I don't go out and 'make it happen' then someone else WILL!
So starting with right now, I am making a commitment to myself to 'make it happen' TODAY! Will you join me? Are you in-it-to-win-it?
